Maharashtra Issues Notification On Lockdown Extension; Implementation From April 14 Midnight
The official notification for the lockdown was issued by the state's revenue and disaster management department
Maharashtra government had earlier announced the extension of lockdown after April 14. The decision was taken after PM Modi had a meeting with the Chief Ministers of various states. The official notification for the lockdown was issued by the state’s revenue and disaster management department today.

As per the official statement, the order is to be implemented from Tuesday (April 14) at midnight.
PTI quoted an official as saying, “The first notification was issued on March 25 as necessitated by Section 2 of Epidemic Diseases Act and provisions of Disaster Management Act, and was valid till April 14. Since there has been no reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in this period, the lockdown was extended till April 30.”
Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray tweeted, “The State Government hereby directs the lock-down orders issued vide notification dated 25th March 2020 shall now be extended upto and inclusive of 30th April 2020.”

Out of all states, Maharashtra is the worst-hit state by the novel coronavirus. The tally shows 2,064 cases of positive COVID-19, out of which 1,697 are active, 217 have recovered and around 150 deaths are reported. Fresh 82 cases are reported today.
