Snoop Dogg is now a commentator and playable character in NHL 20

Snoop Dogg is now officially a commentator and playable character in NHL 20. While this might seem like an arbitrary decision on the surface, the rapper has actually done NHL commentatory before.

EA made the official announcement on Twitter, writing “The D O Double G @SnoopDogg is now in #NHL20 and it’s LIT!”

Snoop Dogg is not the first non-pro hockey celebrity to join the ranks of NHL 20. EA recently added Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowery, Minnesota Vikings’ Adam Thielen and Pittsburgh Steelers’ Juju Smith-Schuster to NHL 20.

EA first teased the arrival of Snoop Dogg on NHL 20 with a teaser image of Snoop Dogg‘s silhouette on a purple, smoked-out background. The caption read “It’s about to go down, fo’ shizzle.”

An announcement was next released on EA SPORTS NHL, confirming the rapper’s arrival on NHL 20. Snoop Dogg’s wacky style of commentary is sure to bring a breath of fresh air to the game.

EA had earlier revealed plans to get celebrity guests like Will Ferrell, Drake, Wayne Gretzky, and Snoop into the mix when the game was announced in June. This could very well mean that we will see more new celebrity guests come in soon. As for the time, players can enjoy Snoop on the commentary. If you’ve ever heard the man commentate, you know this is going to be hilarious. His wildlife commentaries segments are the stuff of comedy gold, definitely worth checking out.

NHL 20 is an ice hockey simulation video game developed by EA Vancouver and published by EA Sports. The game was released globally for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 13, 2019.
