Pakistan’s Special Service Group (Navy) commandos are also based in the locality of the Hyderabad base and have been known for training Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists for carrying out attacks using the sea route.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been supported by Cabinet Committee which cleared the setting up of a forward fighter base in Deesa, Gujarat following the rapid development on the Pakistan side.

It will take at least three to four years to extend the runway, construct fighter pens and other infrastructure even though airfield will plug the air gaps on the border.
