Paris St-Germain continued their hot form under new coach Thomas Tuchel extending their unbeaten run to five matches at the Parc des Princes on Friday. The French champions playing without the suspended Kylian Mbappe and Neymar made light work of Saint-Etienne, brushing them 4-0 aside, to strengthen their hold of the pole position with 15 points after five rounds of matches.

Mbappe was serving the first of his three-match suspension following the straight red card against Nimes, while Neymar was rested ahead of the important Champions League group stage clash against Liverpool.

Julian Draxler, starting on the left gave the Red and Blues a first-half lead when he headed home a Marco Verratti cross in the 22nd minute. Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani then doubled the lead from a penalty in the 51st minute.

Angel Di Maria and Moussa Diaby then rounded off the victory with goals in the 76th and 84th minute respectively.

It was a comfortable victory for PSG, with Saint-Etienne managing just two shots on target over a dozen less than what had.

Tuchel also set a new PSG record after winning all of his first six competitive matches as the coach of the club. Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti held the previous record after leading the French club to five successive victories in 2011.

Meanwhile, Pierre Lees-Melou scored a last-minute winner as OGC Nice recorded two consecutive victories by defeating Rennes 2-1 at home on Friday.

Coached by former France great Patrick Vieira, Nice had last week registered their first domestic win of the season with 0-1 victory over Lyon.

Playing at home, Nice went a goal down when Malang Sarr gave Rennes the lead in the 50th minute. Allan Saint-Maximin then levelled the scores for the hosts in the 77th minute before Lees-Melou netted the winner one minute from the final whistle.
