This is the reason why Twitterati are supporting MNS activists

People who go to theaters for watching films, were not allowed to carry their own food into the movie theaters. Their only option was to buy the food inside cinema halls at the food counters for which they had to pay forcefully. Now how does that become forceful? That’s because the prices of the menu provided at theaters are quite expensive.

Nevertheless, Bombay High Court in June administered the state government to take strict action to regulate the prices of food at multiplexes. This was directed after filmmaker Jainendra Baxi filed a petition regarding the matter, the court observed that the prices inside the movie halls are unreasonable and at some places even more than the cost of the ticket.

Hence, a policy was passed by the Maharashtra government allowing the people to carry outside food inside the cinema halls and multiplexes from August in the state. Although, it is witnessed the multiplexes are not following the orders of the court.

A right delayed is a right denied

In the current list of events happening, recently the activists of the political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) created a ruckus in front of the PVR cinemas in the Phoenix Mills at Lower Parel, Mumbai. Seemingly, the authority at cinema hall stopped them from entering into the hall because they were carrying outside food. So in protest they became rough with the situation, hence the police arrived at the spot for safety purpose.

MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande has other side to express in this story. He claimed the police was supporting the PVR management instead of following orders given by the state government.

He said, “We had booked fifteen tickets for a movie and we brought our own food. Police prevented us from entering the premises with the food so we told them, as per the state government resolution we are permitted to carry outside food. Police repeatedly spoke on behalf of the multiplex management, saying it was not allowed and stopped us“.

Surprisingly, the incident has gained popularity on Twitter and Twitteratis are tweeting their take on the matter. Most of tweets are in support of MNS activists, in favor of allowing outside food in cinema halls and are also demanding regulated food prices inside the theatres.
