Selena Gomez Taking Legal Action Against Gaming Company For Using Her Name Without Approval

Former Disney star Selena Gomez is taking legal action against a video game company for allegedly using her name and likeness without her her permission. According to reports, the lawsuit states that Selena Gomez did not give any permissions to the gaming company for using her name, image or likeness in any regard.

“Defendants never requested, consulted, or informed Gomez regarding the use of any of her publicity rights in connection with the Game.

“Nor, if asked, would Gomez have consented to such use for the Game, which apparently relies on the unsavory practice of luring its users to make in-game purchases in amounts as much as USD 99.99 to fund imaginary spending in the Game and unlock features,” the suit stated.

The game is question is Clothes Forever – Styling Game which is copyrighted by British firm, MutantBox Interactive Limited. Selena Gomez also stated that the game would negatively affect her image as it was a “bug-riddled” game that charged money from users.

Selena’s Lawyer, Alex Weingarten, has repotedly told a media outlet that “Selena Gomez’s career as a model, actress, musician, and entrepreneur has made her a household name. But, people like Foregame, Mutanbox and these other videogame developers have attempted to profit from the ‘Feel Me’ crooner’s signature look by stealing her likeness and inviting other players to style like Selena Gomez without her consent.”

“Selena Gomez is a style icon. This is an egregious violation of Selena’s rights, which we will litigate vigorously to vindicate.” Weingarten added.

Selena Gomez has made quite a comeback this year with her chart topping album Rare.
