Uttar Pradesh: Man dragged out of police van, beaten to death by mob
In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly dragged out of a police van in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district and beaten to death by the mob. The video of the incident is doing rounds on social media shows that police played a role of mute spectator while the man was being beaten by the crowd.
A minute-long video has gone viral on social media on Tuesday. In the video, the man and a police officer can be seen seated in the front-seat of Dial-100 van. The mob is continuously seen trying to drag the man out of the police van, while a woman can be heard screaming at him. According to a report published in CNN News 18, the man was drunk and had a spat with a few villagers in Shamli’s Jhinjhana area. The villagers then beat him up and called the police. They continued to beat him, even as the police took him under arrest. The report also states that the man’s family has lodged a protest over the death, demanding the arrest of those involved.
The victim is identified as Rajendra Kashyap. He was arrested by the police on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, for being involved in a drunken brawl in the village on Monday night.
