Citing the aspect of respect, Shivpal reasoned, as reported by NDTV, “I have constituted a Samajwadi Secular Morcha. Those not being given any respect should come with us. We will also try to bring together smaller parties.” Asked if he is planning to quit the party, Shivpal replied back with a question. He said, “Why don’t you go ask Akhilesh Yadav if I should quit?”

Briefing about his upcoming plans, Shivpal stated that he would tour different districts of the state and garner support for his outfit and perhaps then he would come to a decision. He also appealed to all the leaders unhappy with Akhilesh. He said, as the news website quotes, “I am looking to make this a front of all people who are unhappy with the way things are in the party.”

This is not the first time that Shivpal Yadav has sparked a controversy. Prior to this, in 2017 just before the Assembly elections in the state, he made comments against Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan. Sources in the party say that due to this party had to face a defeat and BJP gained unexpected seats in the state.
