Opener Reeza Hendricks top scored with 66, while wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen made 59 as the Proteas reached the target of 229 in 45.5 over with four wickets remaining. Khaya Zondo remained not out on 25 alongside the returning Dale Steyn (4) – who in the series had already registered his maiden ODI fifty – to carry their side home.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Zimbabwe once again got off to a poor start as opener Solomon Mire was dismissed cheaply by last match’s hat-trick hero Imran Tahir. Craig Ervine then lasted three balls before getting out for a golden duck off the bowling of Steyn.

Skipper Hamilton Masakdza (28) stuck for some time but he too was out and it was down to the middle-order pair of Brendon Taylor (40) and Sean Williams (69), who stitched together a partnership 0f 73-runs t bail them out mobile.

Kagiso Rabada also took three wickets as Zimbabwe were bundled 228 in 49.3 overs.
