Srikar Bharat’s century helps India A to mammoth total against Australia A

Srikar Bharat’s century has put India A in commanding position over Australia A in the second unofficial Test at Alur on Monday. Srikar not only scored a splendid ton but his 113-run partnership with Kuldeep Yadav (52) took India A to a mammoth 505 in their first innings.

It gave India A 159-run lead against Australia A, who has scored 346 in their first essay. In the second innings, Australia was batting on 38/2, still trailing India by 121 runs at the end of day three.

Kurtis Patterson and Matt Renshaw were the two batsmen dismissed and while Patterson (4) fell to Krishnappa Gowtham, Renshaw was cleaned by Shahbaz Nadeem.

Earlier, resuming the day at 223 for three, India lost skipper Shreyas Iyer for 42, who was bowled by Mitchell Marsh. Bharat and Shubman Gill (50) then steadied the ship with a 41-run stand, before the latter was dismissed by Chris Tremain.

Gowtham (20) and Deepak Chahar (6) didn’t last long either and India were 370 for seven at one stage. But Bharat and Kuldeep picked up from there and helped India gain complete control with a century-run partnership.
