This is why SS Rajamouli cast Alia Bhatt for Jr NTR & Ram Charan’s RRR

Ace director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming star-studded film RRR is one of the most awaited films of 2020. The period drama not only features South superstar Ram Charan and Jr NTR in pivotal roles but also marks debut of Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in South films.

Recently while talking with a leading entertainment portal, SS Rajamouli talked about many things including the reason behind choosing Alia Bhatt for a role in “RRR”.

The Baahubali helmer said,” I need an actress who can stand her ground between Tarak and Charan both of whom are extremely talented actors. She can be innocent, vulnerable yet be extremely resilient. That is the reason I went for her.”

Rajamouli further clarified that Alia Bhatt is not cast opposite Ram Charan nor included in a love triangle. As RRR is not a love triangle story Alia is not cast opposite both the South superstars.

Rajamouli also added that, “In a large-scale film it is very important that there is perfect balance between art and commerce. One cannot be sacrificed for the sake of the other. Yes, it is also very good that their star status helps the pan India appeal.”

The first motion poster of RRR was released last month. The movie has been postponed to release next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt is busy with Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Sadak 2’ and Karan Johar’s ‘Takht’.
