Nagal is the only Indian in the singles main draw in New York. He has recently joined Novak Djokovic’s new Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) along with compatriot Rohan Bopanna.

Nagal was in his best form in the initial two sets of the match against Klahn. In the third Klahn returned to vanquish Nagal. But the youngster once again rose to the top in the fourth set. The Indian tennis star soon wrapped up the match.

Nagal, who is the world number 122 will next confront either Austria’s Dominic Thiem or Spain’s Jaume Munar in the second round of the US Open.
