Supernatural Showrunner Andrew Dabb Hints at Sam and Eileen’s Future

Long-running fan-favorite series Supernatural is coming to an end after an incredible run of 15 seasons. Over the course of the show, there have been many characters that have we have fallen in love with. One such character is Sam Winchester’s love interest, Eileen Leahy. First introduced in Season 11, Eileen quickly went on to become a fan favorite.

As Supernatural winds down for the final lap, fans are wondering what happens to Sam and Eileen. Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb does see a future for the two but he warns that it might not be what fans are expecting.

“I think the Sam/Eileen relationship will evolve, but this isn’t a case where Eileen’s going to end up in the back of the Impala, riding around with the guys,” Dabb told TVLine. “She’s an independent person, Sam’s an independent person…. So I think you’re going to see them reach kind of a status quo that makes both of them happy, but maybe not get a rom-com ending, if that makes sense.”

Supernatural is currently on a mid-season break of its final season. The show originally premiered in 2005, following the Winchester brothers (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) as they hunt demons, monsters and other supernatural beings that threaten this world. Supernatural will move to Monday nighs upon its return in March 2020.

The final season of the show could potentially be filled with many familiar faces returning for this last ride. Sam and Dean Winchester face their biggest opponent to date in the form of God aka Chuck. The show will return on March 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The final season of Supernatural will star Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert.
