CONFIRMED: Varun Dhawan To Work With Sara Ali Khan In Coolie No 1 remake

On the occasion of Varun Dhawan’s 31st birthday today (on April 24), David Dhawan has finally announced Varun and Sara Ali Khan as the leading actors of Coolie No 1. Notably, it would for the third time, Varun Dhawan will be seen working in his father’s film Coolie No 1 after Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2.

Judwaa 2 was the remake of David Dhawan’s 1999 film of the same name, which had Salman Khan in the lead role while Main Tera Hero, which was an original film released in 2014.

Sara Ali Khan — who made her Bollywood debut last year with Kedarnath — is currently busy shooting for her upcoming film along with Kartik Aaryan. After her debut, she went on to feature in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba alongside Ranveer Singh, which turned out to be a blockbuster.

Taking to Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote: “It’s official… After 25 years David Dhawan and Vashu Bhagnani come back together to adapt their timeless comedy, Coolie No 1. The film starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan begins shoot this August.”

Earlier there were reports doing the rounds that Sara would be seen playing the role of Karisma Kapoor, which she had played in the original superhit comedy film. The original film featured Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead and was also directed by the David Dhawan.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama earlier this month, a source close to the project revealed that the filmmakers plan to retain two songs from the original film – Husn Hai Suhana and Main To Raste Se Ja Raha Tha. “We plan to keep the original songs in the remake. Why should David Dhawan re-mix those hits when they are popular to this day?” the source was quoted as saying.

On the professional front, Varun Dhawan was last seen in Kalank is currently shooting for Remo D’Souza’s dance film Street Dancer while Sara was seen in Simmba and currently filming for Imtiaz Ali’s next.
