Indian skipper Virat Kohli is on the brink of achieving another milestone by breaking another record in his mesmerising career. The 29 year old will get his opportunity when he walk to bat in the first T20 International against England at Old Trafford on Tuesday. He will become the fourth batsman to enter the 2000 run club after Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum and Shoaib Malik.

New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is leading the pack with 2271 runs at an average of 34.40. He is followed by his former captain Brendon McCullum who has scored 2140 runs. Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik achieved the feat against Zimbabwe in a match in Harare. He played 59 T20Is to get into the 2000 run club.

Kohli is placed eighth in the ICC T20 Rankings for batsmen and he will become the fastest overall to get to this milestone. The 29 year old is yet to score his maiden ton in this format for team India but as long as the top order flourish and don’t leave the onus on him, he will be more happier to not bat in those situations.

Virat Kohli will be keen to perform well in the haunting English conditions. This is the only place where the run machine has failed to perform to potential.

India begin their England tour today under the leadership of Virat Kohli and the fans would love to see him breaking another record.
