I wasn’t sure where it would hit? Virender Sehwag reveals the bowler he feared the most while batting

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has revealed that former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar was the one bowler he feared the most during his playing career, because he was never sure of which ball would hit him on the head and which ball would hit him on the shoe.

In a video chat hosted by UCBrowser, Sehwag revealed, quotes Hindustan Times, “If there is one bowler I was scared of it was Shoaib Akhtar. You didn’t know which ball he would hit on your shoe and which one on your head. And he has hit many bouncers on my head. I was scared of him but had fun hitting balls from him too.”

Meanwhile, in the same chat which was aired live on the website, former Pakistan skipper and all-rounder Shahid Afridi also revealed that although he never feared any player during his playing career, he never liked bowling to Virender Sehwag.

Both Sehwag and Afridi, who played for each other’s arch-rivals countries India and Pakistan also spoke about their favourite cricketing moments in their career.

Winning the World T20 in 2007 and the World Cup triumph at home in 2011 were the best moments for Sehwag, Afridi said that leading his nation in the victorious 2009 World T20 was his best moment.

“For us, there was two – 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup. In 2007, we had a really young team and no one had expected us to do well or win, that too in South Africa. And 2011, because before India, no other host nation had won the World Cup,” said the 38-year-old Sehwag.

While Afridi said, “2009 World Cup was memorable for us because of the Sri Lanka incident that had happened and Pakistan cricket was struggling. That win was important to lift the spirits of our nation.”

Virender Sehwag currently is the mentor and head coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Kings XI Punjab, while Afridi has retired from international cricket but continues to feature in leagues or franchise cricket.
