Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi Crowned Miss Universe 2019 Title

Zozibini Tunzi has finally been declared as 2019 Miss Universe pageant on Sunday night, beating out almost 90 other women belonging to multiple countries and territories in the annual competition. The 2019 Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, is a PR professional and activists.

The crowning of the 68th Miss Universe at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The event was hosted by none other than award winning comedian, Steve Harvey along with actress and former beauty queen Vanessa Lachey. The event also witnessed the performances by Fifth Harmony member, Ally Brooke.

Notably, Steve Harvey hosted Miss Universe 2019 for the fifth time on Sunday, and he has once again erupted controversy. During the event, Steve Harvey has reportedly made a big mistake when he accidently declared  that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was the new Miss Universe when the crown was really supposed to go to Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.

Zozibini has managed to dethrone Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, claiming 2019 Miss Universe title. Notably, Zozibini has become the third South African to claim the Miss Universe crown. The first and second Miss Universe titles were won by Margaret Gardiner in 1978 and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2017 respectively.

Zozibini has also become the the first Miss Universe to wear the brand-new “Power of Unity” crown which is said to be worth R73 million.

As per Zozibini’s bio, “She has devoted her social media campaign to changing the narrative around gender stereotypes.”

“She is a proud advocate for natural beauty and encourages women to love themselves the way they are,” the bio further reads.
