Probably, the first instance where a Bollywood actress married a cricketer. Tiger Pataudi who was then the youngest appointed captain of team India fell in love with Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, the reigning queen of the 60’s and 70’s. Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi got married on 27 December 1969 after four years of courtship. Sharmila continued acting in films post-marriage whereas Tiger retired from the game in the 70’s due an accident where he lost an eye.

Their marriage fell apart after the birth of their daughter, Jannat. Both eventually got divorced after a series of martial conflicts.
