COVID-19 Spike: Domestic flights won’t serve meals with less than 2 hrs duration

Over the last few weeks, India recorded a new spike in Coronavirus outspread. Several states have already imposed night curfews and weekend lockdowns to break the COVID chain. The Civil Aviation Ministry on the other side has issued new guidelines. Apparently, as per the new rules no meals would be served on domestic flights with less than 2 hrs of travel duration. The decision has been taken by the department due to peeking COVID-19 cases.

On Monday i.e April 12, the Civil Aviation Ministry issued an official statement imposing the ban on the serving of meals on domestic flights. It said, “The Ministry of Civil Aviation, considering the increasing threat of Covid-19 and its variants, has decided to review onboard meal services in domestic flight operations.” It is as reported by India Today. The serving of the meals on domestic flights is only allowed when the flight time is more than 2 hours.

The safety measures have also been tightened at the airports and in the flights considering the rising Coronavirus cases. On Monday, the highest single-day rise count recorded as many as 1,68,912. This takes the total caseload to 1,35,27,717, according to the Union Health Ministry.
