Aamir Khan faces criticism on Twitter for meeting First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdogan

On August 15, 2020, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, met the Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan at the presidential residence in Istanbul. He was in the country to complete the shoot for his upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’ However, the internet is not happy and Aamir was slammed by the netizens. Read to know why?

Emine Erdogan took to her Twitter handle and shared the pictures from their meet and captioned it as: “I had the great pleasure of meeting @aamir_khan, the world-renowned Indian actor, filmmaker, and director, in Istanbul. I was happy to learn that Aamir decided to wrap up the shooting of his latest movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in different parts of Turkey. I look forward to it!”

However, the netizens slammed him due to the relations between India and Turkey. How Turkey had supported Pakistan over the abrogation of  Article 370.  Thus, the internet called out the 55-year-old actor for paying a visit to her.

Meanwhile, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an adaptation of Forrest Gump’, Robert Zemeckis’ Oscar-winning 1994 film starring Tom Hanks. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and is directed by Advait Chandan.  Produced by Aamir along with Kiran Rao via Aamir Khan productions along with Viacom18 motion pictures. Earlier, it was expected to release at the end of 2020.  However, has now been postponed to Christmas of 2021.
