Amarinder Singh: Amritsar attack a clear case of terrorism
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh visited the grenade attack site at Adliwal village in Amritsar on Monday and stated that this is a clear case of terrorism. He claimed that the state police will catch the culprits and also asserted that arrests will be made soon, in this regard. Earlier in the day he had announced a reward of Rs 50 lakhs for anybody providing information of the attackers.
Speaking with media on Monday after the visit at the Amritsar blast site, Singh said, “Investigation is going on. There are some leads which our police is following up. I am hopeful that we will soon catch the culprits. All those injured are out of danger. This is a clear case of terrorism and we’ll deal with it.”
The announcement of a reward comes a day after a grenade attack on a Nirankari congregation in Rajasansi area, which claimed three lives and injured 20 people. Along with Singh, another Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was also present who visited Guru Nanak Hospital to meet those injured.
Notably, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief attacked the Singh government for failing to maintaining the law and order situation in in Punjab. He had said, “It is this thought which took Punjab into a dark era earlier. The present government needs to eschew this policy permanently for lasting peace in the state.”
Even Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal shared similar opinion. She took to twitter and wrote, “First bombs and now grenade attack in #Amritsar, what next Raja saab? When will you and your ministers stop encouraging elements bent on disturbing hard-won peace? Stop playing politics and get down to serious governance. Punjabis don’t want to go back into dark era.”
