Bihar Shelter forced girls to sleep naked, used it as brothel

The Muzaffarpur shelter home scandal has taken an ugly turn. A lot of skeletons have started tumbling out, now that the Bihar police took charge of the investigations. The Bihar police submitted a chargesheet in the POCSO court after carrying out investigations that led to the findings of most grotesque treatment of the girls living there.

The 16-page chargesheet revealed that one room from the shelter was a makeshift operation theatre used to carry out forceful abortions of the sexually-abused girls. Speaking Exclusively to India Today, additional public prosecutor Sangita Sahni said that the shelter home ran as a brothel.

“When the girls used to become pregnant after sexual exploitation, they were forced to abort them in this operation theatre in the shelter home”, said Sangita Sahni, additional public prosecutor.

The chargesheets includes confessions of 32 girls who have shared their traumatic ordeals at the home. 67 types of drugs and syringes, including epilepsy drugs were recovered from the premises. These drugs were administered to the girls after which they were raped. The victims have mentioned three persons in the chargesheet. They spoke about a “tond wale netaji, moonch wale uncle and hunterwale uncle” who used to sexually exploit them. The Police have identified Brijesh Thakur, one of the owners of the home as the main abettor, however the others have not yet been identified. The victims complained that they were forced to sleep without clothes and night and were also sexually exploited by the women staff in the house. If a girl was to resist any sexual advances, they were kicked and punched in their private parts by Brijesh Thakur.

The case has now gone to the CBI who will be investigating it further and questioning people. CBI has released a statement that a 12-member team has been sent o Muzaffarpur to carry out of the investigation. Several documents and evidences have been seized by the CBI from the Bihar home.
