One crore frontline workers have been identified to receive the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available. India at present has five vaccines that are undergoing a trial to give respite from the rising coronavirus cases. The five vaccine candidates are in advanced stages of development in India.

Government hospitals across all states have provided data.56% of private-sector hospitals have also provided data. As per the data provided the entire health care workers are approximate around 1 crore. They will receive the first dose during the immunisation drive, if and when a particular vaccine is cleared by the Indian regulator for commercial use.

As reported by Sources to Mumbai Mirror, “Once we start immunizing frontline healthcare workers, will do it for the entire 1 crore people, from start to finish,“.

Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawala has said they can supply around 100 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine per month. By July 2021, India could have around up to 400 million doses of Covishield.

The states are gearing up for administering COVID-19 vaccine. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to complete all preparations for the prospective vaccination drive by December 15. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot too has directed officials to prepare a database of frontline workers so that the vaccine can be administered to them without any hassle.

Meanwhile, PM Modi chaired an important meeting today, to review the coronavirus situation in badly-impacted states.
