COVID-19: Bihar Extends Lockdown For A Week Till 1st June

The Bihar government on Monday extended Covid-19 lockdown by a week till June 1. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made the announcement on Twitter after discussing the matter with other ministers and officers. The decision was taken in view of a sharp decline in the number of Covid-19 affected people in the state.

The state had imposed the lockdown on May 5 for 11 days, and later the government extended it till May 25. The CM has now decided to continue with the restrictions imposed for a week more.

The CM tweeted in Hindi, “There has been a good impact of lockdown with a decline in the number of infection. So a decision has been taken to extend the lockdown period for a week from May 25 to June 1 in the state.’

According to Nitish Kumar, the lockdown has slowed down the spread of coronavirus cases and they have started to decline in the states.

On Sunday, Bihar reported 4,002 positive cases, down from the 14,794 positive cases reported in the state on May 4, the day before the lockdown.
