Deepika Padukone launches lecture series on mental health

Deepika Padukone has launched her first lecture series on mental health in Delhi on Sunday. The Live Love Laugh Foundation a charitable trust that was set up in 2015 to give hope to every person experiencing stress, anxiety and depression (SA), held the first edition of Live, Love, Laugh lecture series. The aim of the annual event was to steer and shape the conversation on mental health and advance understanding of the topic.

The maiden lecture was delivered by Pulitzer prize-winning author & Padma Shri Awardee, Dr Siddhartha Mukherjee.

The event was held at Taj Mahal, New Delhi which was attended by Deepika Padukone, Anisha Padukone, Prakash Padukone, Ujjala Padukone, Sharmila Tagore, Indu Bhushan, CEO Ayushman Bharat; Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog, Dr. Renu Sawarup, Dr. Balaram Bhargava, Prof. Vijay Raghava, Prof. Gagandeep Kang, Sanjeev Sanyal.

Deepika, who is the founder of Live Love Laugh Foundation, thanked the media fraternity for their role in starting the “conversation about mental health.”

She said, “I think as far as the conversation about mental health is concerned, we have come a long way. And I think media has a huge role to play in that. Especially by opening up the conversation in various ways, whether through interviews, write-ups or articles”.

She shared, “The lecture series is to invite people from different profession from various parts of the world. Most importantly the people who are passionate about mental health and have us to talk about their journey and experience.”

On the work front, Deepika will play the role of husband Ranveer Singh’s reel wife in the upcoming sports drama ’83’. She also has Meghna Gulzar directorial ‘Chhapaak’. The Piku star will be playing the role of an acid attack survivor alongside Vikrant Massey.
