While Camila Cabello brought her father as her date, Shawn Mendes walked the Grammys red carpet alone. The “Havana” singer melted hearts when she sang “First Man” for her father. However, fans never got to see the reaction of Mendes to this performance.

Cabello and Mendes, who started dating last year, were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit single ” Senorita”. Camila Cabello also shared her excitement at sharing a Grammy nomination with her boyfriend Shawn Mendes. The singer told Radio.com, “It feels really special to get to share that kind of experience with someone that is first and foremost my friend that I’ve known for such a long time. He was actually the first person, I think, that I wrote a song with, which was when we did our collaboration ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ Flashing back to then when we were just two kids in a dressing room writing a song really quickly.” The two lost out to “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X Featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
As for the couple not spending the event together, Camila has previously spoken about how much she values privacy in their relationship. Another reason for them not walking the red carpet together could be that Cabello wanted the attention focused on her father rather than the two of them.
While the couple spent most of the awards ceremony apart, they packed on the PDA in the after-party later. They arrived at the party hand in hand and went on to share some intimate moments during the night.
