Harmanpreet Kaur emulates MS Dhoni on Lancashire debut
Indian women’s T-20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a blistering knock of 34-runs from 21 balls that included a match-winning six of the penultimate delivery, to help her side Lancashire Thunder beat Surrey Stars by five wickets in the Kia Super League in London on Tuesday.

Thunder needed 10 off the final four balls and Harmanpreet after taking two in the third ball, smashed Alexandra Marsh for a boundary in the fourth, before stepping down the track and hitting a towering six over mid-off to announce her arrival in England.
Kaur’s blitzkrieg that included three fours and a six helped Lancashire chase down the 149-run target with a ball to spare and they notched up a hat-trick of victories in the league.

Her efforts were even hailed by the official Twitter account of the England and Wales cricket board who put up a video of Kaur’s knock and congratulated her saying, “WHAT A WAY TO WIN! Indian star @ImHarmanpreet smashes a huge six to win it on her @LancsCricketWMN debut WHAT A WAY TO WIN!.”
Australian left-hander, Nicole Bolton top-scored for Lancashire with a sensational 87-runs off 61 balls, which included 13 boundaries. She with fellow opener Eve Jones gave a flying start to Lancashire with a 62-run partnership in 10 overs. Surrey captain Nat Sciver than picked up two quick wickets that put the Thunder in a spot of bother.
But Harmanpreet’s knock ensured no hiccups and Lancashire now with the win are placed third in the six-team table, with 13 points from four matches.
Earlier, Sciver also had rescued her side with the bat scoring an unbeaten 95 from 57 balls that had two sixes and nine fours. Her brilliance, however, fell short on the day as other players failed to put up any substantial performance.
Brief Scores: Lancashire Thunder 151/5 (Bolton 87; Sciver 2/26) beat Surrey Stars 148/5 (Sciver 95; Lamb 3/34) by five wickets.
