UIDAI has made provisions to include all residents living in India under this scheme, irrespective of their age. They have also launched an Aadhaar card for children named the Baal Aadhaar Card. It is issued to children under 5 years of age and even newborns. The Baal Aadhaar card needs no biometric information for children below five years of age. As the fingerprints and iris of children below five years of age are not fully developed.

If a child is over 5 years, then the biometric authentication process is mandatory. Once the child turns 15 years, another biometric update is required. At the time of enrollment, fingerprints of the child, iris scan and photograph of the child will be documented.
