According to a report in Cricbuzz, Haddin will join head coach Trevor Bayliss who recently replaced outgoing coach Tom Moody. Haddin will replace Simon Helmot, the former Melbourne Renegades coach who served in the position since the start of 2018.
Brad Haddin’s coaching resume also includes serving a two-year term as a fielding and wicketkeeping coach for Australia. He was also in charge of the Australia A team posts his international retirement in 2015. Notably, Trevor Bayliss was the coach of ‘Sydney Sixers’ with Haddin as skipper when it won the Champions League in 2012.
They both have sufficient IPL experience as well. Haddin has experience of playing the Indian Premier League for KKR and Bayliss had coached KKR between 2012 and 2015 before taking up the England job.
It is to be noted that Haddin would be the second foreigner to be appointed in the coaching staff of an IPL franchise in less than a week after Kolkata Knight Riders roped in Brendon McCullum as their head coach.
