Hello and welcome to the live updates of the 2019 Indian Premier League auctions. Kings XI Punjab made the most impact in the auctions so far by roping in England all-rounder Sam Curran, Mohammad Shami, Nicholas Pooran and rookie -all-rounder Varun Chakravarthy. Jaydev Unadkat, who was the highest-priced India last year fetched 8.4 this year as well and is one of the costliest buys so far alongside Chakravarthy. KKR has bought West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite along with Kiwi Lockie Ferguson. Shimron Hetmyer, one of the stars who was expected to fetch big money was pocketed by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He said, “It’s not my decision, it’s the decision of the BCCI combined with IMG. It has come as a bit of a shock to me after 11 unbroken years of conducting the auction and always receiving positive comments and feedback from the franchise owners, administrators, BCCI and my many fans. It has come as a bolt out of the blue – to be released, to use an IPL term – without reason or explanation.”
