Jammu and Kashmir: Six terrorists killed in Anantnag encounter
Early Friday morning, six terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A predawn operation was launched by the security forces, based on inputs about the presence of terrorists in a forest area in Bijbehara, around 50 kms from Srinagar.
Police and Indian Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) are jointly conducting the ongoing operation.
Reportedly, the terrorists were initially reported to be trapped in the area.
The police said, “As the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists, they fired triggering the ongoing gunfight,”as quoted by news agency IANS.
Authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Anantnag, as a precautionary measure.
Combing operation is underway.
