Kirmani a former chief selector talked on the controversial dismissals of Murali Vijay and Karun Nair from the Test team.

Both Vijay and Nair claimed that they were not given prior notifications before being excluded from the Test team.

“If you ask me Ravi Shastri is the main selector, being the coach. He along with the captain and senior members will discuss and put it (what they want) across to the selection committee.

“The current selection committee, with due respect, is inexperienced to these guys (Shastri and Kohli). And they better listen to what the team management wants because they cannot debate with Shastri and Kohli, who have much more experience,” Kirmani said, as quoted by PTI.

The Indian selection committee is low on international cricket experience with Prasad, the chief selector having the experience of six Tests and 17 ODIs. The others on the panel- Devang Gandhi (four Tests, three ODIs), Jatin Paranjpe (four ODIs), Gagan Khoda (two ODIs) and Sarandeep Singh (two Tests, five ODIs) doesn’t have too much experience of international cricket.

“Luck also plays a role in selection. Take my example. I was sidelined at the peak of my career,” Kirmani, a veteran of 88 Test matches added.
