Kristen Stewart to be cast as Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain’s ‘Spencer’
Pablo Larrain previously directed the 2016's Academy Award-nominated film Jackie
Hollywood actor Kristen Stewart, who made a splash with her role as Bella Swan in Twilight, has been a part of many high-profile projects since the hit movie franchise. She was recently seen in Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels as Sabina Wilson. Now, it seems like Kristen Stewart is all set to play the role of Diana, Princess of Wales in an upcoming project titled Spencer. It will be directed by Pablo Larrain who previously directed the 2016’s Academy Award-nominated film Jackie.
Reports suggest that the biopic will focus on Diana’s relationship with Prince Charles. The film is expected to go under production in early 2021. During an interview with Deadline, Pablo was all praises for Kristen Stewart and said it was beautiful to see how the actor was approaching the character of Diana. He further added that the combination of mysterious, fragile, as well as a strong personality, is what made him think of the Twilight actress. He went on to state his confidence in the actor and stated that he was happy with the way Kristen was responding to the script.
However, Pablo further revealed that the film will not be dealing with the tragic death of Princess Diana. Instead, it will shed a closer light on the relationship between Diana and her husband. In addition, it will also be a glimpse of her love for her children, Prince Harry and Prince William.
On the work front, Kristen Stewart was last seen in 2020’s film Underwater. She will next be seen in Happiest Season. The Clea DuVall directed film is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2020.
