Mumbai Flights And Trains Delayed Owing To Heavy Rains, Passengers Stranded

Mumbai has finally seen the end of the dry spells after what seemed like ages of heated summers. But then, as we know, Mumbai rains aren’t that convenient even. Mumbai rains are really heavu= and have always caused inconveniences to people travelling.

“Spicejet SG 6237 Jaipur-Mumbai flight, a Boeing 737-800 Jaipur-Mumbai flight overshot its mark on the runway while landing amidst heavy rains at 11:45 pm. It is still stuck at the runway while a second runway is under operation. Even Indigo has taken over to Twitter to warn all their passengers of the delays which may happen due to the rains.

A Korean Flight to Mumbai has been diverted to Ahmedabad, a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt and an Air India flight from Bangkok had to be diverted, sources have said in a report by news agency PTI.

The Western Express Highway leading to the Mumbai airport is completely flooded after continuous rain in the city. It has become extremely difficult for people running to catch their flights to reach the airport on time. Yesterday The Sion railway Station was submerged in Water.

According to the Meteorological department, Mumbai has received more than 540mm rainfall in just two days which is the highest in the past decade. The Government has also declared a public holiday for the Mumbaikars. It’s not only the flights but also the Suburban and western railways which is now heavily affected.
