A 45-year-old man allegedly raped a six-year-old girl in Aarey Colony on Monday, has been arrested. The accused was beaten and taken to police stations by neighbours. The incident came to notice when the victim raised an alarm.
According to the police, the 45-year-old accused is a milk supplier and lives alone in the home and a neighbour of the victim.
On Sunday evening, he spotted the minor alone at her home after her parents had gone to the market. At around 7 pm he called her to his house and reportedly raped her. When the minor started screaming, local and neighbour thronged and caught him.
The report says, the angry mob tried to barge into his house and broke down the door, which accused had locked from inside. Fearing he would be beaten up, the accused took hold of a knife to save himself. He also attacked one of the persons with it.
As per the police complaint, both victim and accused live in the same locality. After noticing her parents are not at home, he had asked her to come to his house on the pretext of giving her chocolates and raped her.
“We have booked and arrested the accused under Sections 376 (rape), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and various sections of POCSO Act. He was produced before a court and remanded in police custody till October 15,” said a police official from the Aarey police station.
