First-time MPs Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty take oath in Lok Sabha

First-time parliamentarians Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty have taken oath as MPs in the lower house of the Parliament today. Both Nusrat and Mimi could not take oath as the former recently got married to businessman Nikhil Jain and Mimi also attended the ceremony of her friend in Turkey. Both took oath in Bangla. Towards the end of their oath, they said ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Jai Hindi’ and ‘Jai Bangla’. Post taking oath, they went up to Speaker Om Birla to touch his feet.

While talking to the news agency ANI, Nusrat said that there are several things on priority and her party will raise the first concern of her constituencies before the House tomorrow.

In the Lok Sabha Elections, 2019, Nusrat Jahan won in Basirhat while Mimi Chakraborty won from Jadavpur, West Bengal. TMC bagged 22 seats in West Bengal while the BJP had won 18 while the remaining two were won by the Congress.
