According to Variety, the One-Punch Man movie will be written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. They also worked on 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its 2019 sequel. Avi and Ari Arad will serve as producers on the project.

However, there is no release date for One-Punch Man yet. There is also no word about potential directors or actors being considered.

One-Punch Man was created by Japanese artist ONE. It tells the story of Saitama, a powerful superhero with the ability to defeat any opponent with a single punch. Bored by his flawless battle record, Saitama embarks on a quest to find an opponent who can actually challenge him.  It originally made its debut as a webcomic in 2009.

It has already been adapted as a popular anime series as well as numerous video games. This isn’t the first attempt by Hollywood to adapt a popular manga/anime franchise into a movie. A remake of Akira is also in the works. It was originally slated to be directed by Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi. However, that may not be the case anymore.

Similarly, Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop live-action series has also hit a snag as star John Cho was injured on set. The series is currently on hiatus.

Sony Pictures’ Venom: Let There Be Carnage was set to hit theaters Oct. 2. However, it has now been postponed to June 25, 2021.
