French forward Alexandre Lacazette once again repaid the faith Emery showed on him by handing him a start as his strike in the 56th minute broke the deadlock and handed the Gunners a much needed lead.
Minutes later, it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who put one into the net despite being offside. Emery would also be delighted at the fact that it was his first clean sheet from the time he took over the north London club. Yet, Everton could have scored in the first half but failed to do so as they wasted a lot of chances .
Petr Cech, after all the criticism he has received for his sloppy performances in the Premier League so far, turned out to be one of the star performers for the hosts.
With Arsenal ahead by a 2-0 margin, the 36-year old pulled off a fantastic save. The Merseysiders were easily the better of the two sides in the first half. But they have only themselves to blame and coupled with some spectacular saves, as Marco Silva’s team succumbed to their second successive loss.
It was their 21st loss to Arsenal in the 25 times both these faced each other in North London. Emery handed Lucas Torreira his first start of the season and the 22-year old didn’t fail to impress. As a  matter of fact, it was his pass to Aaron Ramsey who in turn found Lacazette on the left and the French striker came up with a curling effort the went into the top corner of the net.
