iSmart Shankar Sequal: Puri Jagannadh Confirms Part 2 of Ram Pothineni Starrer

Ram Pothineni, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Nabha Natesh starrer ‘iSmart Shankar’ released this Thursday (18th July). The film has been in the news for many reasons including its gripping story and beautiful songs. The movie iSmart Shankar has received rave reviews from both critics and audience alike. The film is likely to break many records at the box office. The makers of iSmart Shankar have also announced the sequel of the film.

On 18th July, Puri Jagannadh made a surprise announcement that he would do the sequel to the mass sci-fi entertainer iSmart Shankar. According to the reports, the commercial potboiler would be titled ‘Double iSmart’.

Speaking about his collaboration with Ram, the maverick filmmaker mentioned that the Energetic Star got bored of his good boy image and suggested him to pen down a unique script where the protagonist has the shades of a bad street-smart guy.

Impressed with the way the film has been doing at the box office, director Ram Gopal Varma, the guru of Puri Jagannadh, took to twitter to appreciate and congratulate the team. He wrote, “Double Congrats on the Double Dhimaak. Earth Shaking Phenomenal Openings …” (sic)

The writer-director is yet to take a call, as he is currently revelling in the success of the film. He says if the film manages to get a huge collection, ‘iSmart Shankar’ will be a genuine comeback film. Since he is keen on working with Nandamuri Balakrishna, the latter may be tempted to give him dates.   But can the film hold on to its current momentum?  Let’s wait and watch.

Puri Jagannadh also responded about the similarities between ‘iSmart Shankar’ and Hollywood movie ‘iBoy’. He said that it was an only inspiration, but not copy.
