Rahul Dravid inducted into the ICC’s Hall of Fame
The legendary Rahul Dravid on Thursday was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame. Dravid thus becomes the fifth Indian to be inducted into the elite panel that also has names like Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble.

Dravid was handed the plaque by Gavaskar himself at the Greenfield International Stadium.
On July 2, the ICC had made it public that Australian great Ricky Ponting and Dravid would be inducted into it’s Hall of Fame in Dublin.
Known as “The Wall” during his playing days, Dravid amassed a total of 13,288 runs in the 164 Tests he has played. He also has 34 Test hundreds. In ODIs, he played 344 matches where he aggregated 10,889 runs. Dravid still holds the world record for taking 210 catches in Test cricket, the most by any fielder in the longest version of the game.
“It is a matter of great honour to be named by the ICC in the Cricket Hall of Fame. To find your name in a list of all-time greats across generations is something one only dreams of while setting out on a cricket career and the kind of recognition that would delight any player,” said the former right-handed batsman, as quoted by an ICC media release.
“The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame is our way of honouring the greats of our game. Only the very best players in the world are recognised for their contribution to cricket in this way and I would like to congratulate Rahul, Ricky and Claire who are wonderful additions to the list of cricketing luminaries in the Hall of Fame,” ICC’s Chief Executive David Richardson said.
