Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 2 is inpired by true events highlighting rapes in India
Mardaani 2 has been in the headlines ever since its intriguing trailer was dropped online. Since Mardaani 2 trailer out, there have been reports claiming that Rani Mukherji’s upcoming flick is inspired by South Indian film, Ratsasan.
We have witnessed plenty of Bollywood movies that have taken inspiration from South Indian film and Rani Mukherji’s Mardaani 2 seems to be one of them. The Hichki actress had recently reacted to the news of her upcoming film inspired by Ratsasan.
In an interview with Latestly, Rani had made it clear that whether Mardaani 2 is a remake of Vishnu Vishal starrer Ratsasan or not.
In the same interview she said, “I would like to say it (the similarity) is a coincidence. I’ve not seen the film that you are talking about. Mardaani 2 is a fictional story. It is inspired by true events. So you’ll have to see the movie before judging it to say.”

Talking about Ratsasan, the story of the film revolves around a killer who mercilessly murdered young school going girls. The film featured Vishnu Vishal as a police officer while Amala Paul was seen in the role of a teaser.
Coming back to Mardaani 2, the film is said to be inspired by true events highlighting rapes in India.
Directed by Gopi Puthran, Mardaani 2 features Rani Mukerji, Mardaani 2also stars Sudhanshu Pandey, Vikram Singh Chauhan, Shruti Bapna and others. It is scheduled to release on December 13.
