IFFI 2018: Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan dedicates award to Indore, Film industry

Salman Khan’s father and renowned scriptwriter Salim Khan have been awarded The International Film Festival of India 2018 (IFFI) Special Award on November 28. The IFFI award ceremony was graced by Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kabir Bedi, Meghna Gulzar and many other noted Bollywood actors and filmmakers.

However, Salim Khan has dedicated IFFI 2018 award to Indore, which is Khan’s birthplace, Mumbai and Film industry which has given him a lot.

The Bollywood scriptwriter was conferred with the award at the closing ceremony of the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for his Lifetime Contribution to Cinema.

Taking to Twitter on the same day, Salim Khan wrote: “Thank you IFFI and Information and Broadcasting ministry, Government of India for honouring me with the Indian Personality for Lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema. IFFI 2018.”

He further wrote: “I dedicate this award to Indore, my birthplace and to Mumbai and the Film Industry which has given me everything.”

Thanking veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, Khan khan said, “I would also like to thank Mr Javed Akhtar without whose contribution this would not have been possible.”

It is to be noted that Salim-Javed were a screenwriting duo in the Indian film industry. They worked together on 24 films during 1971-1987, of which twenty were commercially and critically successful films. The duo also worked together on 22 Bollywood films, as well as two Kannada films.

The films in which they worked together include, Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Kranti and the Don franchise.
