NCB Officer Sameer Wankhede Hits Back At Nawab Malik Over Tweets On His Identity

NCB officer Sameer Wankhede hit headlines with Aryan Khan’s arrest in the drug on cruise case. Wankhede has hit turbulent waters with allegations of bias and bribery being hurled at him. Recently Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik shared personal details of the officer on social media.

Malik accused Wankhede of forging his birth certificate. The minister had shared Wankhede’s birth certificate that shows that the officer was born Sameer Dawood Wankhede. He also shared a photograph of the officers nikah with Shabana Qureshi. Malik also implied that Wankhede forged his caste certificate to bag the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) job under the Scheduled Caste quota.

Reacting to the allegations Sameer Wankhede said in a statement, “I would like to express that my father Sh. Dnyandev Kachruji Wankhede retire {as Senior Police Inspector of State Excise Department, Pune on 30.06.2007. My father is a Hindu and my mother Late Mrs Zaheeda was a Muslim.

I belong to a composite, multi-religious and secular family in true Indian tradition and I am proud of my heritage. Further, I married Dr Shabana Qureshi in 2006 in a civil marriage ceremony under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Both of us divorced mutually through Civil Court under the Special Marriage Act in the year 2016. Later in the year 2017, I married Shiimati Kranti Dinanath Redkar,” Sameer Wankhede added.

Wankhede on Sunday also sought protection from legal action fearing “being framed” falsely with “ulterior motives”.
