After Sonali Bendre, is it Rishi Kapoor?
Actor Rishi Kapoor himself revealed on micro-blogging site Twitter that he was going to the United States with his wife Neetu and son Ranbir for medical reasons.
Announcing this, the famous actor asked his fans and followers not to speculate anything on his health conditions. “Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years ‘plus’ of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!” his tweet read.
The fact that Rishi couldn’t make it to the funeral of his mother Krishna Raj Kapoor, who passed away following a cardiac arrest, raised doubts. The entire fraternity was left guessing as to what was so serious that he couldn’t even make it to his mother’s funeral.
Now, according to a news report in Bollywood Bubble, Rishi is apparently diagnosed with third stage of cancer. “Flown to the US for treatment. The doctors have called him in for a 45-day treatment that includes chemotherapy sessions too. Rishi along with Neetu, Ranbir are currently staying there and now Ranbir will have to come back to begin shooting for his films. Which is when Ridhima Kapoor Sahni will be travelling to be with mom and dad. It’s a trying time for the veteran actor,” a source was quoted as saying by Bollywood Bubble.
“Shooting of Rishi’s film with Juhi Chawla is completely stalled. The producers, Sony don’t want to continue with a replacement. They have put the movie on hold. He’s going to be treated a little differently because he always had a back problem. The doctors are also taking that into consideration. It’s not known which cancer he is suffering from yet,” the source elaborated.
It may be recalled that actor Sonali Bendre was also detected with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in the United States itself.
