Sri Lankan off-spinner Akila Dananjaya, in all likelihood, would miss the third  Test against England as he is set to travel to Brisbane for his having his bowling action tested.

Danajaya was reported for a suspect action in the first Test against England where his side went down by 211 runs in Galle.

Team manager Jeryl Woutersz opened up about this development, stating that the 25-year old would leave for Brisbane after the second match, which automatically means that he might not make it in time for the third match.

“We’re hoping to get Akila down to Colombo the day the second Test ends, and send him on from there,” he said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

“At this stage, it doesn’t seem like he will be able to be back in time for the third Test,” he added.

The second Test gets underway on November 14 in Kandy. Sri Lanka currently trail 0-1 in the series.

Root support for Dananjaya

England captain Joe Root, when asked about his take on the suspect bowling action of Dananjaya that was reported after the Galle Test, appeared to show sympathy for the young bowler, saying that it is “unfortunate” thing he has to deal with.

It is an unfortunate thing he has to deal with,” Root said.

“Ultimately for us we played him at Galle pretty well throughout the last game.

“If you see anyone with a question mark by their action, you hope they get through and it doesn’t hamper their career. It is never nice to see,” he added.
