Live Update: UY Aviation claims crashed plane took off for test flight

The fire has now been extinguished 30 minutes after the crash that took place in Ghatkopar at 1:15PM on 28 June in an open area near BSNL Exchange in the old Maniklal lane next to Jeev Daya Lane of Ghatkopar.
The plane crashed while landing after taking off for a test flight from Juhu as a call by the female pilot was made to swerve last minute to take the route of an unoccupied place instead of a residential life thus saving many more lives, the UY Aviation Private Limited has claimed.
The plane had been sold off by the Uttar Pradesh Government in 2014.
Despite heavy rainfall, crowds have thronged to the street to pitch in to help as well as witness the mishap.

“Five people have been killed and two others injured,” said BMC PRO.
The aircraft — King Air C-90 VT-UPZ — belongs to UY Aviation Pvt Ltd and it was bought from Uttar Pradesh government.

“There were two pilots and two AMEs on board. All on board aircraft along with one person on the ground are dead,” said Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The C-90 aircrafts were fisrt introduced in 1963 and this particular variant came into being around the 80s which might reason the antiquity of the engine that might have caused technical failure.

The DGCA team has been appointed to conduct preliminary investigation.
In the footage acquired, flames and heavy black smoke was seen rising from the wreckage.

Meanwhile, amid confusion due to the logo of Uttar Pradesh government on the aircraft, Principal Secretary (Information) Avnish Awasthi said, “The chartered plane which has crashed (in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar) does not belong to UP govt. The state govt had sold it to Mumbai’s UY Aviation. The deal was done after the plane had met with an accident in Allahabad.”

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said that he is saddened to hear the news about the aircraft crash in Mumbai and he is in constant touch with on ground developments.
“Have directed DGCA to conduct an investigation into the plane crash at the earliest,” he said.

The incident took place a day after Sukhoi-30 fighter jet crashed in Nashik.
