On April 20, London High Court rejected liquor baron Vijay Mallya’s extradition plea. The business tycoon lost his appeal in London against a 2018 decision to extradite him to India. In India, he has been under charges of financial fraud worth around Rs 9,000 crore borrowed by his Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) from several Indian banks. It resulted in the collapse of Kingfisher Airlines in 2012.

Mallya will ‘pursue further legal remedies’ as suggested by his lawyer. He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “I am naturally disappointed with the High Court decision. I will continue to pursue further legal remedies as advised by my lawyers. I am also disappointed with the media narrative which states that I must face trial in India for a fraud of Rs 9000 crores.”

Check his tweet here.

In another tweet, he wrote, “The Banks have already recovered in cash a sum of Rs 2500 crores which is 50 percent of the Principal amount. I have repeatedly offered to repay the Banks in full but, sadly to no avail.”
