Now, the company has finally reacted to the criticism and issued an official statement on social media.

“We believe that our ads are well-intentioned, but were unfortunately misinterpreted by some people,” the statement by Zomato reads. The statement added that their ad was shot with the purpose of making the delivery executive “the hero of the ad”.

Check it out:

“The other side of the story…,” read the official Twitter handle of Zomato.

The statement also stated that the advertisement was conceptualized 6 months ago and was shot 2 months ago. Further, they said that the AD highlights that “we should talk respectfully to delivery partners.” The company added that every customer is a star for them and no less than Hrithik and Katrina.

“Our delivery partner Net Promoter Score has increased from -10% to 28% (and continues to rise). We will also, very soon, publish a blog post explaining why we think our delivery partners are fairly compensated for the work/time that they put in,” Zomato concluded.

However, in reply to Zomato’s statement, various users have mixed reactions to the situation.
