Earlier, Farhan had tweeted, about the anti-CAA protest: “Here’s what you need to know about why these protests are important. See you on the 19th at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai. The time to protest on social media alone is over.”

According to an India Today report, Senior IPS officer Sandeep Mittal accused Farhan of breaking the law. He has also asked the Mumbai police to take action against the actor.

Sharing an explainer video of Section 121 of the Indian Penal Code, Mittal tweeted: “You also need to know that you’ve committed an Offence u/s 121 of Indian Penal Code & it is not unintentional. @MumbaiPolice & @NIA_India are you listening. Please think of the Nation that is giving you everything in your Life. Understand the Law.”

While Mittal pointed out the law, other Twiter users pointed out that the graphic Farhan had shared had an inaccurate map of India. Soon, Farhan took notice of the same and issued an apology.

Today a protest is being held in Mumbai. Besides residents. students and activists, Thursday’s protests are also set to see the participation of leaders of Congress and NCP, allies in the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government. More than 2,000 security personnel, from the Mumbai Police and paramilitary forces, will be deployed around the August Kranti Maidan to ensure that what happened in Delhi does not happen here.
