AEW Beats WWE NXT In Ratings Battle for 6th Straight Week
AEW Earns 928k Views
AEW once again left WWE NXT in the dust when it came to viewership this week. This is the sixth consecutive week where AEW has topped NXT in the Wednesday Night Viewership Battle. According to Figure Four Online, AEW Dynamite averaged 928,000 viewers, while NXT brought in 770,000 viewers.
Both the shows built up some interesting storylines for their upcoming PPVs. AEW Dynamite pursued the feud between Cody and MJF where Rhodes had to take 10 lashes to earn a match with MJF at Revolution. Cody made it with encouragement from Coach Arn Anderson, The Young Bucks, Dusty Rhodes, and his wife Brandi Rhodes. Next, Cody has to beat Wardlow in a Steel Cage match to earn his match against MJF at Revolution. In addition, Jon Moxley beat Ortiz in a singles match. The AEW World Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega and Adam “Hangman” Page will defend their titles against SCU next week on Dynamite.
However, AEW rival NXT wasn’t too shabby either. After being out of in-ring action for a few months due to an injury, Velveteen Dream returned to in-ring action. Ripley and Belair attacked Charlotte Flair ahead of their NXT Championship match at NXT TakeOver: Portland. In addition, Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor engaged in a promo battle leading into their TakeOver match. Moreover, Dominik Dijakovic beat Killian Dain before his North American Championship match against Keith Lee at TakeOver.
AEW’s constant performance is impressive considering that the company only came into being in 2019. However, with wrestling heavyweights like Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Jake Hager, PAC, Cody Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Shawn Spears, and Jim Ross maybe it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
